Since September 2014, all children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 have been entitled to a free school meal at lunchtime. Although children may bring packed lunches, we strongly recommend the hot school meal option as evidence shows that cooked meals are more nutritious for children than packed lunches.
The reasons for this are:
- It ensures that all Key Stage 1 children are offered a healthy meal in the middle of the day
- Having a school meal improves concentration and performance in the classroom
- Having a school meal encourages positive eating habits and develops social skills
- It means less cost to families – a saving of over £400 a year
The cost of a school dinner for children in Years 3-6 is £2.40 per day – £12.00 per week. These are payable through ParentPay, our online payment service and we ask that meals are paid for in advance. If a debt of more than 5 days is accrued, we ask that your child brings a packed lunch to school until the debt is cleared.
The children may also bring a packed lunch from home if this is preferred to school meals.
If your child is likely to be late into school for any reason and requires a school dinner, please ring the office if at all possible as our meals have to be ordered by 10.00am.
The following links will take you to the menu for our school meals and both kitchens follow the same menu. The menus are on a 3 week rolling programme and the dates are located at the top of the menu. These menus will be for the second part of the Autumn Term 2019 and all of the Spring Term 2020.
Milk and Fruit
During the morning break children in Reception are given a free piece of fruit as a snack. They are also provided with free milk until the term following their 5th birthday. After this, milk is available to buy at 19p per cup.
Children in Year 1 & 2 are also given a free piece of fruit.
Milk is available to buy at 19p per cup for children in Years 1-6.
In order that drinking water is always accessible, children will be supplied with a personal water bottle at the beginning of their Reception year, which we ask they bring into school every day. Subsequent bottles can be purchased from the office at £1.50.
Breakfast Club takes place on our Key Stage 1&2 Base every school morning. Doors open at 7.45am and the last breakfast is served at 8.30am. The cost is £2.00 per day, per child and is payable, in advance, through ParentPay, our online payment system. If a debt of more than 5 days is accrued, the debt must be cleared before your child can return to Breakfast Club. At the end of Breakfast Club, children are taken to class by school staff.
